Part
7: Control System Design
I am choosing to do this assignment on
Stella’s Café. The main goals that they have would be to make sure the customer
is happy, and all food is up to their standard. In order to do this, they must
make sure that everything they need in the restaurant that day is ordered ahead
of time, and that the staff they have on can make the food and serve the food
in a timely manner while maintaining a friendly demeanor and excellent customer
service. The goal is to keep customers happy so they will continue to come to
the establishment and keep being a customer.
Output Control: I believe that this would
be an appropriate form of control. This control is used a lot in business’s
that focus on measurable results. I think that this would work decently in a restaurant
setting as there are a few ways you could measure results. One way is by
measuring the amount of customers being served a day the other way could be the
amount of income that is being brought in per day. I think this control would
work well as the results could be measured easily and things can be adjusted in
order to produce higher results.
Behavioural Control: I also believe that
behavioural control would be a good form of control to use in a restaurant. Restaurants
usually have a certain standard they want their employees to maintain, in this
case giving them rules and procedures to follow will help with their behaviour
in a work atmosphere. The restaurant I worked at had a dress code and specific break
times these were examples of behavioural control that worked well in the workplace.
Clan Control: I do not believe that clan
control would be a good form of control to use in a restaurant such as Stella’s.
I think that because every day can be so different working in a restaurant and
things can change so often having a control form that everyone is thinking the
same way and isn’t a huge fan of change could be a problem. I think it is
better to have different employees with different work preferences and styles.
